Waterproof or water-resistant?

A waterproof glove keeps water out entirely, either with a full dip that covers the whole hand or a sealed, coated shell over an insulated liner. A water-resistant glove has coated palms and fingers with a breathable back: it sheds splashes and wet handles while letting your hand breathe, which is more comfortable for warm, active work. If your hands will be in rain, snow or standing water for hours, go waterproof; for damp gardening, washing down equipment or handling wet stock, water-resistant is usually the better fit.
